Over the last 20 years, I've learnt that whilst musical accuracy is expected, the ability to 'fill in' and improvise when required is a very useful skill to have and not one that every professional has.
Whether its accompanying a choir, ensemble, or that you just require a solo performance, I'm fully able and experienced in all areas and would love to speak with you.
I have a vast experience and engage well with all genres of music.
I am currently resident accompanist for the Salisbury Area Young Musicians (Children & Youth Choirs), and also for the Winterslow Singers based on the outskirts of Salisbury. It is also a regular occurrence to be a last minute stand-in for various choirs and music groups around the Wiltshire area for a number of reasons. It would be fair to say that pressure doesn't phase me, and I'm very use to being given some very challenging music at a very late stage - sometimes right before a concert!
I have directed and conducted a number of choirs and instrumental groups as a stand-in 'Relief MD' for quite a number of years now which has given me experience with leading individuals of all ages.
From 3 part (SA/Men) Church Choirs, to 8 part (SSAATTBB) community choirs, its always a joy and a pleasure to take rehearsals on behalf of the full time MD whilst they are away (for whatever reason). I like to keep practices light and enjoyable, whilst still focussing on, and ensuring the detail of, the scores in question are obeyed and encouraged. Musical direction is always key, and so a brief conversation/ exchange of communication will be required prior to the day so that markings and direction can continue to be portrayed.
